I am taking a few days to reset my brain, as I am truly exhausted. My plan is to keep talking about politics, history, libertarianism, social issues, and the like. I have the first couple of episodes of the podcast for Ideological Origins sketched out. It is an intellectual history of how we got here in our current thinking as a country.
Also my vote for president didn't matter in Indiana because of the electoral college. Indiana went republican as it normally does. Urban centers all across American went to Biden, but the rural areas went to Trump (generally speaking). What can be done to get true representation?
Chris, I've read a few of the articles you share in your daily emails. One though that keeps sticking with me is that neither the Republicans or Democrats have any intention of addressing the monster that must be fed, the federal government that is. Politicians spend most of their time in this 2 party system keeping themselves in office and in power, while doing little to move the ball forward in the field of social reform. The article basically said we're screwed and our best option is to leave the country in search of countries where true liberty exists.
Comparisons on other systems of government. Where is libertarianism practiced and working well?
What would it look like for Americans to retool government in a way that actually serves its citizenry and not the pockets of politicians and their benefactors? What's the strategy?
I was pressured to vote the non-Trump vote instead of "stealing votes" from Biden. How have you defended your choice to vote Libertarian when you know your candidate will not win. I was told a vote for a Libertarian candidate is a vote for Trump or Republicans in general. I see their point. My response was that I am uncomfortable supporting either Republicans or the Democrats as their politics at present are just to extreme. Neither party represents me. And if I'm honest about the whole political corruption, centered on staying in office and keeping the campaign money coming in, to the detriment of the needs of the public, no one represents my interests. At least by voting Libertarian I can feel good about supporting something I can get behind. Voting for the extremism of the right and left makes me ill.
Hi Chris. Really enjoy the WAL family and content. This might not be the right forum to request this, but I'd really be interested to know what real world Constitutional Amendments could help reinstitute federal checks-and-balances and why.
Like to learn more about gaining more pro liberty representation. Paths, strategies, and actual results. Be interesting to see a scale or rankings on representatives and candidates upcoming. Measurements for things from fiscal to social stances. I thought presidential candidate breakdown shows this last year were some of the best shows. Also interested in liberty allies and maybe getting some guest show guests from multiple platforms.
I really want to know more about cats.
